Preparation
For the buns
- To make the homemade burger buns, place the Pizza Mix, sugar, lukewarm water, double cream and egg in the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Add the softened butter in small cubes and continue kneading until fully incorporated and the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a ball, cover, and let it rise in a warm, draught-free spot until doubled in size – this will take around 2 hours.
- Once risen, divide the dough into 10 equal pieces (around 90 g each), and shape each one into a smooth ball.
- Place the dough balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and gently flatten them with your hands.
- Cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rest for another 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 190°C (conventional).
- After resting, brush the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake at 190°C for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Assembling the burgers
- Cook the beef patties in a hot frying pan to your preferred level of doneness.
- While they cook, slice the buns in half and lightly toast the cut sides in a pan for a few minutes.
- To assemble: place the base of each bun on a serving tray or board, spread with a little mayonnaise, add a lettuce leaf, a burger patty, a slice of cheese, a slice of tomato, some onion and ketchup.
- Finish with the top of the bun and secure with a wooden skewer.
- Serve your homemade burgers straight away, with extra sauce on the side if you like.
