Ingredients for 16 buns
| 500 | g | mix for chocolate buns |
| 175 | g | cold whole milk |
| 1 | egg (50 g) | |
| 15 | g | honey |
| 50 | g | soft butter, cut into cubes |
| 75 | g | chocolate chips |
| q.s. | milk for brushing |
Preparation
- Place the mix in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Add the cold milk, egg, and honey. Knead on medium speed for about 12 minutes. Add the softened butter cubes all at once and continue kneading for another 3 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Add the chocolate chips and mix on low speed just until evenly incorporated.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature for 1 hour, or until slightly puffy.
- Divide the dough into 16 equal portions (about 50 g each). Shape each portion into a smooth ball. Arrange the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise for another 1 hour.
- Brush the tops gently with whole milk.
- Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 180°C for about 15 minutes, placing the tray on the second rack from the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
